The days may be getting shorter, but that doesn’t mean the fire risk in Richmond has diminished, say firefighters.

Richmond Fire-Rescue took to Facebook to remind people that the city will likely see warm and dry conditions throughout September. The fire department once again asked people not to throw away their cigarette butts in public parks or areas with dry vegetation that could catch fire.

“If you love our parks, trails and forests, help us protect them,” they wrote wrote.

They also shared a photo of a fire at Garry Point Park over the Labour Day weekend, insinuating human carelessness contributed to it.
