Two Richmond men are facing gun and drug charges after a raid earlier this month by the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU) netted three restricted firearms, ammunition and more than 30 kilograms of cocaine and methamphetamine.

Henry Kal-Geat Chia, 26, is charged with 11 counts, including possession of a restricted firearm and possession of both cocaine and methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking.

Phu Manh Nguyen, 31, is facing a single count of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

Chia and Nguyen were arrested March 7, CFSEU Sgt. Ghalib Bhayani said in a news release. A search warrant was executed the next day at a business in the 2000-block of No. 5 Road in Richmond.

Police seized three restricted weapons, ammunition, six kilogram bricks of cocaine, 24.7 kilograms of methamphetamine as well as other firearm and drug-related items, he said.

Investigators also discovered 1,600 litres and nearly 227 kilograms of precursor material believed to be used in the production of methamphetamine.

"This is another example of the work that CFSEU-BC members do in so many communities," Bhayani said. "The removal of a significant amount of dangerous drugs and three semi-automatic handguns from the street certainly reduces the risk to the public. Mr. Chia was not only illegally in possession of these guns, but he had already been prohibited from possessing any firearms at all."
