RCMP say victim was targeted, was known to police

A 41-year-old man is in stable, but serious, condition after getting shot several times Saturday night while leaving a Richmond restaurant.

After what is understood to have been a targeted hit gone wrong, Richmond Mounties are not releasing the name of the man.

He is now recovering at Vancouver General Hospital, and RCMP Insp. Brian Massie told Global BC he is known to police and has a high-risk lifestyle.

The victim was found around 10 p.m. in a parking lot behind a restaurant near 8049 Anderson Rd. at the intersection with No. 3 Road and across from city hall.

Richmond serious crime investigators are determining whether the incident was gang related.
