The Richmond School District has an interim superintendent as it looks to hire a permanent one in May.

Rick Ryan, a former CFL football player who has been the school district’s deputy superintendent for about three years, will be acting superintendent until the hiring process is completed.

Scott Robinson, who served as superintendent for four years, stepped down effective March 10.

Robinson announced his retirement in February.

Ryan previously worked in the Surrey School District, most recently as deputy superintendent.
