Let’s head back to September 1971 when Cameo Coiffeures Ltd. celebrated the grand opening of its second location at the Delta Fair shopping mall in Tsawwassen. The business also had a location on 48th Ave. in Ladner.

Henri Wientjes moved to Ladner in 1940 with his mother, father, brother and sister and opened his first beauty salon on Delta Street in 1944.

The first shop was opened in conjunction with a barber shop on Delta Street operated by his father.

Wientjes would relocate his salon to Vancouver and then he opened another on the North Shore.

“But I always wanted to move back to Delta and in 1968 there seemed to be a lot of new growth here, so we moved back,” he told the Optimist.

He opened his 48th Avenue location in 1970.
