Highway 99 will be closed overnight on Monday-Tuesday while a crane is moved at the Steveston Interchange.

Traffic will be diverted off Highway 99 at the Steveston Exchange overnight between Tuesday and Wednesday while a crane is being moved.

Both northbound and southbound traffic will be re-routed onto the on- and off-ramps between 11 p.m. Tuesday, May 6 and 5 a.m. on Wednesday, May 7.

“The closure is needed to ensure crews can safely move a large crane across Highway 99,” the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure said in a press release.

The ministry is building a new five-lane Steveston Interchange on Highway 99 in anticipation of the new eight-lane tunnel being planned to replace the current George Massey Tunnel.

During the crane move, east-west travel on Steveston Highway will be maintained for vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists, and existing transit stops won't be affected.
