Dr. Meena Dewar, Richmond’s medical health officer, will give an update on the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation at the Richmond council meeting on Monday (March 23) at 7 p.m. – the meeting will also be livestreamed.

City staff received confirmation from the health authority that there were three coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in Richmond as of Sunday night.

This followed an announcement a week prior by Dewar that so far there had been none in Richmond.

On Tuesday, Dr. Bonnie Henry, provincial health officer, announced that 83 more cases had been confirmed in B.C., bringing the total to 186 and prompting the declaration of a public health emergency.

The three Richmond cases were announced at a council committee meeting where council decided to shut down most public facilities.

Council meetings are livestreamed at www.Richmond.ca.
