COVID-19 outbreak declared at east Richmond care home

A COVID-19 outbreak has been declared at the Hamilton Village Care Centre in east Richmond. Restrictions to contain the spread of the virus were imposed at the seniors care home on Thursday, Oct. 29.

A COVID-19 outbreak has been declared at the Hamilton Village Care Centre in east Richmond.

Restrictions to contain the spread of the virus were imposed at the seniors care home on Thursday, Oct. 29.

According to Vancouver Coastal Health, the outbreak is on the first floor.

It was detected in one staff person and there hasn't been any evidence of transmission or residents being affected, according to a VCH spokesperson.

Hamilton Village Care Centre is a privately run facility with 135 beds and is operated by Trellis Seniors Services.

They opened in May in the east Richmond neighbourhood of Hamilton.
