A special council meeting will take place on Monday at 4 p.m. to address a Richmond home that has been deemed "unsightly."
The residence at 10411 Southgate Rd. has been ordered to remove and clear overgrown vegetation from the property as well as two "derelict, uninsured vehicles" from the property since 2018, according to a city staff report.
The property is being managed by the owner's daughter who has received several past extensions to clean-up the property. She is asking city council to appeal the order.
City staff is recommending council to deny the appeal.
Following, the special council meeting, the city will hold its regular general purposes committee meeting.
But before council addresses the agenda, a speaker has signed up to talk about the environmental restoration work on Sturgeon Banks.
Councillors will decide whether to endorse a grant application for the No. 3 Road south drainage pump and dike upgrades.
The grant funding from the province would help strengthen the city's resilience to flooding risks through the aforementioned projects, according to the city staff report.
Also on the agenda is the naming of the Steveston Community Centre and branch library. Staff is recommending councillors approve the removal of the word "branch" from the facility and call it the Steveston Community Centre and Library instead.
