Richmond city council will gather for a short general purposes committee meeting on Monday.

But before that, Yannick Simovich, board chairperson of Tourism Richmond, and Nancy Small, CEO of Tourism Richmond will be speaking about upcoming plans and initiatives the organization has for the city.

The regular 4 p.m. Monday meeting will solely look at three of Richmond's submissions to the Union of BC Municipalities (UBCM) Community Excellence Awards program.

This includes excellence in the flood protection public engagement campaign, online business licencing system and ageing infrastructure analysis.

Meanwhile, Wednesday's planning committee at 4 p.m. is looking to rezone 12120 No. 5 Rd. which is currently an Agriculture zone to a light industrial zone to develop a two-storey industrial building with vehicle access ultimately from the rear lane of the lot to Rice Mill Road.

According to staff report, the rezoning application is consistent with the existing Official Community Plan (OCP) as well as recent industrial redevelopment in the area.

The report added that no public complaints or comments have been raised since the rezoning sign was erected on the property.

Meanwhile, city council will have its one-year review of the market rental housing policy. So far, staff report shows the policy is "working accordingly" as many projects are underway and using incentives to provide more market rental housing options in Richmond.
