Richmond residents can let city hall know what they think about a proposed average household tax increase of $87.
The city is seeking feedback on its five-year consolidated financial plan until Sunday, Jan. 19 at LetsTalkRichmond.ca.
Originally, staff was proposing a 6.32 per cent budget increase but after what they termed a “corporate reset” whereby they factored in staff vacancies, the budget increase was brought down to 4.98 per cent.
Feedback is being sought on all three parts of the budget – the operating, the capital and the utilities budget – which form the consolidated plan.
Comments are due on or before 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 19 via LetsTalkRichmond.ca or by email to [email protected]. Written submissions can also be sent to the city's finance department.
The proposed five-year financial plan is expected to be on the Jan. 27 council agenda for consideration of final reading and adoption. Public delegations regarding the plan will be permitted at that council meeting.
