The City of Richmond will pay for most of your training if you want to become an aquatic fitness class instructor this fall.

The city is partnering with the Richmond Fitness and Wellness Association to offer a subsidized aquatic fitness training program, which could lead to job opportunities, according to a city press release.

Training courses will be held on weekends starting in June. Eligible candidates only need to pay $199 for the traning program that typically costs more than $1,300.

No previous fitness instructor experience is required and candidates do not need to be skilled swimmers or seasoned athletes.

"The best instructors are those who love to move, inspire others and are keen to learn," said in the press release.

Those who are interested can apply now through Sunday, May 27 with the first course starting on June 2. Further guidelines are on the city’s website at www.Richmond.ca/Fitness.

The city currently offers more than 20 Aquafit classes per week at Minoru Aquatic Centre and Watermania.
