Richmond taxpayers have the opportunity to offer their comments for the City’s 2017 budget plans from now through Sunday, Oct. 23 online at LetsTalkRichmond.ca, or at two public open houses.
“The city delivers a diverse array of services to local residents, businesses and visitors — policing, parks, child care, libraries, fire-rescue, water, sewer, garbage and recycling, road maintenance, flood protection, recreation, cultural services and more,” said Mayor Malcolm Brodie. “This is an opportunity for taxpayers to let council know their priorities for next year as we begin the process of adopting our 2017 budgets.”
City staff are now preparing the draft operating, capital and utility budgets for council review. The public consultation provides taxpayers with an opportunity to provide input on their spending priorities for the city, which will be considered in drafting the budgets and will also be presented to council as they begin their consideration of the 2017 budgets.
There will be two public open houses, both held at Richmond City Hall:
Thursday, Oct. 13, 3-6 p.m., presentation at 3:30 p.m.
Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016, 5-8 p.m., presentation at 5:30 p.m.
The open houses will feature an information display and staff will be available to answer questions. A brief presentation will be provided by staff at each open house. A feedback from will be available for participants to provide input on the budget.
Preliminary estimates for the city’s 2017 operating, capital and utility budgets were developed as part of the City’s 5 Year Financial Plan (2016-2020). The current plan is available online at LetsTalkRichmond.ca. Printed copies available by request via [email protected] / 604-276-4218.
