City calls for arts nominations

If you know an artist, volunteer, teacher, organization or individual that deserves recognition for their arts contributions, the City of Richmond is calling for nominations for the 10th annual Richmond Arts Awards.

If you know an artist, volunteer, teacher, organization or individual that deserves recognition for their arts contributions, the City of Richmond is calling for nominations for the 10th annual Richmond Arts Awards.

The annual awards program recognizes achievements and contributions to the arts by Richmond residents, artists, educators, organizers and business leaders. To date, the program has attracted more than 180 nominations recognizing veteran artists and rising stars in the community.

All artistic disciplines are eligible including visual, performing, literary and culinary arts, as well as craft, environmental arts and new media. Six categories are celebrated including arts education, artistic innovation, business and the arts, cultural leadership, volunteerism and youth arts.

Three finalists in each of the six categories will be named in April and winners will be announced in a special ceremony on Tuesday, May 15. Nominations can be submitted online at www.richmond.ca/artsawrds until 5 p.m. on March 15.
