Celebrate Pride Week at Richmond Public Library

Programs include storytimes, film screenings, book clubs, and workshops.
Richmond Public Library
Richmond Public Library has organized a variety of programs to celebrate Pride throughout July.

Richmond Public Library (RPL) is celebrating Pride Week throughout July with programs suitable for all ages.

“For the last two years, the library has proudly partnered with the Hamilton Community Centre to offer the popular Drag Queen Storytime,” said Jordan Oye, RPL board chair.

“RPL is committed to intellectual freedom, freedom of expression and advancing equity for all who live, work and play in Richmond.”

Apart from Drag Queen Storytime, programs will include film screenings throughout the month and a book club to discuss We Have Always Been Here: A Queer Muslim Memoir by Samra Habib.

RPL is also partnering with BLUSH to offer an educational workshop teaching parents and caregivers strategies for supporting LGBTQIA2S+ family members, and a writing workshop for teens led by local YA author Tanya Boteju. BLUSH is a youth-driven organization providing sexual health education to high school students across the Greater Vancouver Area.

Drag Queen Storytime featuring local teacher and drag performer Bryan Bone, aka Gina Tonic, will be held online on July 25 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Registration and details for other events are available on the RPL website.
