CBSA officer runs over 100km from Chilliwack to YVR airport to support veterans

Sachin Latti ran over 100 kilometres to fundraise for the Royal Canadian Legion's poppy program.

If you were stuck in traffic and noticed police cruisers along Highway 91 on Sunday afternoon, don’t worry. They were not there because of another crash.

They were there because of Sachin Latti, a Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) officer, who ran a total of 103.44 kilometres from Chilliwack to Vancouver International Airport in that single day.

Latti and several other runners who joined him embarked on the lengthy jog, titled "A Run to Remember," in support of the BC/Yukon Command of the Royal Canadian Legion Foundation -- specifically the Legion's poppy program.

The program benefits veterans and their families as well as those currently serving in the Canadian Armed Forces and RCMP.

RCMP cruisers were there to escort Latti and the runners as they made their way through Richmond.

In an Instagram post, Lattie said he "feels honoured and #blessed to have the opportunity to serve the veteran community."

The CBSA officer had set up a GoFundMe page ahead of his run with a goal of raising $10,000 ahead of Remembrance Day. And as of Nov. 8, 2021, he has raised $19,808.
