Canada Line disruptions in Richmond next week

The line between Bridgeport and Brighouse will halt service at 10:30 p.m. daily to allow work for the new Capstan Station.

Commuters using the Canada Line in Richmond can expect some changes and delays in their transit routine next week.

Starting July 10, Canada Line service will end at 10:30 p.m., until the next morning, between Bridgeport and Richmond-Brighouse stations to allow construction crews to work on the new Capstan Station.

Until July 14, a bus bridge will provide alternate service and stop at Bridgeport, Aberdeen, Lansdowne and Brighouse stations. The bus bridge will operate up to every 10-minutes while the Canada Line is impacted in the evening.

Canada Lines from Bridgeport to Waterfront and Bridgeport to YVR-Airport will not be impacted.

TransLink will also operate extra trains to YVR-Airport from 11 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. at 10-minute intervals during the construction period.

The temporary service changes are being put in place to make sure crew and the public are safe during the construction.

Large cranes will be installing vertical columns on both sides of the Canada Line train tracks and cannot operate safely while trains are in operation, according to TransLink in a media statement.
