Commuters using the Canada Line in Richmond can expect some disruption to their journey for a few weeks.
Starting Monday, Jan. 10, TransLink is temporarily adjusting Canada Line train frequencies between Bridgeport and Brighouse stations to allow construction crews to work on the new Capstan station.
Until Feb. 2, there will be “single-tracking” between those stations, resulting in fewer trains running.
During this time, the reduced frequency schedule will be:
Monday to Friday: Beginning of service until 4 p.m.;
Saturdays: Beginning of service until 8 p.m.;
Sundays: Regular service (no reductions).
TransLink says that customers travelling to or from Brighouse during the hours listed above will have to change trains at Bridgeport.
Additional bus service will be available for customers between the Bridgeport and Brighouse stations to meet capacity needs.
TransLink advises customers heading to or from Aberdeen or Lansdowne stations to use bus routes 403 and 410 as an alternative.
According to TransLink, the frequency changes for each section of track during peak hours will be:
• Between Bridgeport Station and Richmond–Brighouse Station: Reduced frequency by approximately 11 minutes.
• Between Bridgeport Station and Waterfront Station: Reduced frequency by approximately 45 seconds.
• Between YVR–Airport and Waterfront Station: Increased frequency by two and a half minutes.
• Expo/Millennium Line service: No impact.
All trains departing from Waterfront will have YVR–Airport displayed as its terminus station and passengers heading to Brighouse should take one of these trains and transfer to the shuttle train at Bridgeport.
