Cambie grad wins car donated by Richmond dealership

The winner of a car, donated by Applewood Nissan, said she now needs to get her 'N'.

For the second year running a Cambie Grade 12 student has gone home with a big grad gift – a car donated by Richmond Applewood Nissan.

This year’s winner, Hella Mohamadi, who has just graduated and plans to study psychology at Langara this fall, said she was “in shock” when she found out she won.

Last Friday, students gathered in the school’s rotunda for H.J. Cambie Day, a last-day-of the-year celebration, where the draw for the 2011 Chevy Cruze was taking place.

Students who wanted to win the car had had to write an application including a statement about how the car would positively impact their life.

Mohamadi, who holds down two jobs while going to school, said the car will make getting to work and school much easier.

Even though she’s been trying to save money, she said she didn’t have much hope of getting a car any time soon – and didn’t expect to win the draw - so she hasn’t progressed past her “L.”

But winning the grad car is definite motivation to go out now and get her “N,” her full licence.

“Grateful” was how Mohamadi describes how she feels toward Applewood Nissan for donating the car.

“They’re very kind-hearted people and I will be forever grateful to them,” Mohamadi said.
