For those missing the bike terrain park in Steveston, the City of Richmond wants feedback on a proposal to replace it, albeit in a more central location than before at Garden City and Granville Avenue.
The city is holding an open house next Saturday, April 6 at city hall for members of the public to review the concept plans and proposed location, and provide their thoughts.
City staff has taken the proposed location to council, which has approved it as the best option. The open house will primarily look for feedback on the concept and design, but will take location change into consideration if necessary, according to City of Richmond spokesman Ted Townsend.
The park is to provide youth with a facility to practise bike skills within a community park.
It will be complete with a series of dirt mounds, buffering for noise and user safety, as well as, screening for nearby residences.
The Steveston bike park was originally built by a group of cyclists in the community who raised money for it, but was displaced because of development.
City staff, consultants and bike riders will be at the drop-in open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
