The BC Elementary Track and Field Championships are returning to Richmond next week

After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the BC Elementary Track and Field Championships (BCEC) are back at Minoru track next week.

The 52nd running of the track meet – being hosted once more by the Kajaks - is scheduled to go May 27 to 29 at the Clement Track and Collier Throwing Centre, with more than 1,000 athletes from Grades 3 through to 7 expected to compete.

The BCEC has been a stepping stone for most kids, as their first exposure to competing in a large, sanctioned meet.

The championships are one of the few that is open to all students Grades 3 to 7 with no qualifying or past experience necessary and participants can register as individuals or come as a school team.

Medals, ribbons, and team awards will be awarded and more information can be found at www.kajaks.ca/bcec.
