London Drug's stocking stuffers for seniors program is running for its seventh year.

The holiday season is a time for giving and what better way to do so than to grant some gift wishes for Richmond seniors.

London Drugs has launched its annual Stocking Stuffers for Seniors program, to help low-income seniors by providing them with gifts of food, toiletries or other items.

Richmond residents can visit their local London Drugs to choose a tag from the Stocking Stuffers for Seniors tree, which contains a local senior's Christmas wishlist items, before Dec. 11.

Once items are purchased and returned to the same London Drugs store with the stocking stuffers tag, the items will be mailed to the seniors ahead of the holidays.

“It is so heartwarming to see the enthusiasm that each community brings to this program to ensure their local seniors feel supported and celebrated during the holiday season,” said Clint Mahlman, president and COO of London Drugs.

“This campaign truly proves the sense of togetherness and support that this time of year brings to those who need it most.”

The London Drugs Stocking Stuffers campaign began in 2015 and has helped more than 60,000 seniors across Western Canada.

Popular gifts for seniors this year include:

  • Toiletries such as no scent shampoo and conditioner, body wash, body cream, toothpaste, toothbrush, make up and nail care
  • Treats such as small boxes of chocolates, candy, cookies and diabetic treats/gluten-free treats
  • Jigsaw puzzles and large print puzzle books
  • Blankets
  • Gloves, mittens and scarves
  • Slippers, socks and underwear
