An interagency group started by Vancouver Coastal Health in Richmond is hosting an affordability resource fair later this month.
On June 16, the Collaborating Opportunities for Resources (CORe) Collaboration Table will host its fifth annual “Connecting the Dots” event. This time, their focus is on affordable resources in Richmond.
“Connecting the Dots is a great opportunity for the public to learn about the many social services in Richmond; we have an exciting lineup of speakers and events,” said Lonnie Belfer, chair of the CORe Collaboration Table in a press release.
From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the library’s Brighouse branch, there will be free workshops on topics such as financial services, literacy and employment support and activities including yoga, gardening seminars and face painting. Information tables hosted by Richmond’s social services will also be available.
The CORe Collaboration Table is an interagency meeting place to discuss community service needs and work towards solving them together. Their goal is to connect and share community resources with anyone who needs the support. With the motto “any door is the right door,” the organization is aiming to open its doors up to all community providers in addition to their focused attention on youth and family.
“We are very excited for the biggest Connecting the Dots events yet and we hope that people who need Richmond’s many resources will come and join us,” Belfer added.
The Connecting the Dots event has grown steadily over the last few years; what started as a closed resource fair designed for community partners to connect, has now become a full festival of activities and workshops that is free and open to the public.
