Richmond’s food scene continues to change as three more restaurants have been added to the city’s food map.

Richmond’s barbecue market is getting even more competitive. Following the opening of a Japanese barbecue restaurant last month, a new barbecue restaurant with Northeast Chinese style cuisine opened its doors recently.

Yanbian BBQ, named after a city in Northeast China, claims their food is all cooked on an open flame. It offers a variety of dishes including pork liver skewers, roasted lamb kidney, crispy sweet and sour pork slices and cold noodles.

A fine Chinese restaurant specializing in food from Southern Chinese provinces, including Shanghai, opened on the second floor of Aberdeen Centre. The restaurant claims to offer “delicacies originating from the Song Dynasty.”

“Our traditional Chinese restaurant is a haven for connoisseurs of fine dining, where we meticulously craft Jiangnan dishes that pay homage to the rich history and flavours of this enchanting region,” says the restaurant’s website.

It offers dim sum before 3 p.m. and dinner after 5 p.m. Menu items include bird’s nest stew, king crab, steamed eel, stir-fried sea cucumber and Australian greenlip abalone.

B House

Address: #1101-8328 Capstan Way

Vancouver’s popular B House Restaurant is opening its second location later this fall, bringing its Asian fusion cuisine to Richmond.

A number of favourites from the Commercial Drive menu will be mainstays on the menu at the Richmond location — including green papaya salad, Vietnamese chicken noodle soup and vegan organic tofu, yellowfin tuna and pork belly bowls.

"We look forward to introducing ourselves and our brand of fresh, healthy Asian fusion fare to our new neighbours in Richmond and welcoming locals and visitors alike for years to come," said owner Chef Hung Nguyen.

New dishes will also make their debut, including red curry mussels, jumbo shrimp fresh salad roll, spicy beef noodle soup, seafood with squid ink pasta and chicken drumsticks in red Thai curry.
