One new COVID-19 case has been reported in Richmond over the past week, bringing the city’s total to 97.

The BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) released the latest case data Thursday afternoon.

Over the past two week period – July 10 to July 23 – there have been 49 cases reported in Vancouver, and 4 on the North Shore.

B.C.’s COVID-19 cases have been on the rise over the past week. From Friday to Monday, 102 cases were reported, while Tuesday and Wednesday saw 30 and 34 cases, respectively.

And on Thursday, health officials announced another 30 new cases in B.C., and one new death.

Earlier this week, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry warned of the possibility of “explosive growth” in B.C.’s cases if people don’t follow health measures to limit spread of the virus, and help the province’s curve bend back downwards.

“We need you to keep your groups small,” said Henry on Thursday.

“The actions of a few, even if inadvertent, can cause a tremendous impact.”

Currently, over 70 confirmed cases are linked to the community exposures in Kelowna, which began around Canada Day.

More than 1,000 people across each of the province’s five health authorities are currently self-isolating as a direct result of those exposures.
