Their nomination was received through Tourism Richmond’s website and it reads, “I would love to nominate these two very special women who went above and beyond the call of duty to help my elderly mother.

“My mother was watching my son while I was out of town for the weekend. My mother was checking out the Interurban Tram in Steveston and as she exited the tram, she had a misstep and fell hard onto the ground.

“Lisa and Debra from the Steveston Community Center immediately sprung into action and took care of my mother as if she were theirs.

“Considering that I was already hours away from home, this gave me extreme peace.

“They both offered to drive her to the hospital. They did and even stayed with her while she was waiting for the doctor. They were kind, gentle and considerate putting both my mother and I at ease.

“They made repeated calls to me as I was returning home to keep me posted and they called for days after to checkup and follow up on my mother’s progress.

“Are Debra and Lisa deserving of a service award?  You better believe it!  On behalf of my mother and I, thank you Lisa and Debra for all of your kindness.”
