Saltworks Technologies Inc. is doing a great thing — protecting one of the world’s most important natural resources: clean water.

“Our technology can treat the most challenging industrial waste water,” said  Adrian Ebsary, marketing manager.

“Those waters usually contain high levels of contaminant that make it difficult for regular water treatment technology to effectively treat the water.”

This year’s Innovator of the Year sells and builds plants globally to oil and gas, mining, manufacturing, food and beverage, aerospace, and other sectors.

“We build full-scale water treatment plants for a company that is used to keep their water clean.

“Sometimes a company needs to remove specific components out of the water or treat the water to meet discharge standards. Some need to turn waste water into fresh water for use.”

Saltworks was founded in 2008 by a group of engineers who wanted a more economical way of treating industrial wastewater and reducing its impact on the environment.

Today, the company has 75 staff and offers multiple product lines for wastewater volume reduction, zero liquid discharge, industrial desalination, and recovering resources from wastewater.

It has over 50 patents and continues to develop technologies for solving new water treatment challenges.

Headquartered in Richmond, BC. Saltworks has expanded to two factories with labs, advanced materials development, and plant assembly facilities.
