The Steveston Harbour Authority recently completed loading its second trailer of scrap fishing nets destined for Slovenia for recycling — much of it destined to be transformed into carpet tiles.

The container weighed 18,203.7 kg (40,132.29 pounds). The recycling program helps keep old and disused commercial fishnets from being potentially disposed of improperly at sea where they can pose a serious hazard for marine life.
