London Drugs stores in Western Canada remain closed following a cybersecurity attack.

Richmond's two London Drugs stores remain closed even though stores are gradually reopening following a cybersecurity incident last week.

The B.C. retailer announced they have reopened core services in 40 stores across Western Canada, including Canada Post within stores, pharmacy department for emergency refill prescriptions and other urgent care after it shut down its operations for six days.

Canada Post inside Richmond's No. 3 Road location is open.

Pharmacies are still unable to fill new prescriptions "due to connectivity issues."

"As we have communicated over the last few days, our store systems are necessarily complex, as is the need to connect with multiple third-party provider systems, all with different requirements to ensure a smooth and safe reconnection," said London Drugs in a media statement.

Pharmacy customers can call their local pharmacy or visit the store in person during regular pharmacy hours.

London Drugs is expecting to open all 79 stores across Western Canada by the end of Tuesday, May 7.

The retailer said it is working with third-party cybersecurity experts to ensure the systems being used are "safe and secure" before turning them back on.

"As our investigation continues, we have not seen any evidence that any customer databases were compromised, including our pharmacy patients and LDExtras members databases," the company said.

"In the event our ongoing investigation later determines that personal information was impacted, we will notify affected individuals in accordance with privacy laws."
