The Vancouver chapter of the Global Federation of Chinese Business Women will host its annual charity fundraising event at Club Versante in Richmond on Dec. 9.

This year’s gala, themed “She Shines,” aims to showcase success stories of women from diverse industries and ethnic backgrounds, according to Rita Chen, president of the Vancouver chapter.

“We invited more than 20 women who are successful in their industry to take professional photoshoots and share their stories through interviews, and included the photos and their story in our organization’s magazine,” said Chen.

“We will highlight them at the gala and invite some of them to share their stories on stage. We aim to inspire more women to discover their potential, extend care to others and pursue their dreams.”

Part of the proceeds from this event will be donated to Jack.org, a Canadian non-profit organization providing charitable training with an emphasis on supporting the mental well-being of young people.

Founded in 1994, the Global Federation of Chinese Business Women has members in more than 80 regions in the world with an aim to unite professional Chinese women across the world, according to its website.
