Juan knew that he wanted to be a mechanic when he was five years old.

Immigrating to Canada in 1991 to escape Peru’s crime and terrorism, with five dollars in his pocket, Juan and Stephanie Recavarren launched Juan’s Auto Service five years later at the couple’s rented one-car garage in Richmond.

Through Juan and Stephanie’s hard work, Juan’s Auto has grown to become the premier dealer for European vehicle auto mechanic services, offering scheduled maintenance and tune-ups to complete rebuilds and restorations on classic vehicles.

“We were blown away by receiving the award. We didn’t know we would get so far,” said Stephanie Recavarren.

“Juan loves what he does. Our business’s success is a mix of being very passionate about the job and being very honest and trustworthy to our clients, which is very important in this industry."

She added that Juan never stops learning to keep up with the latest technologies. In the meantime, when more and more businesses tend to just change the parts that are not working, Juan still gives clients the option to have the parts repaired, like in the older days.

The quality and honest work performed by the company’s experienced and passionate technicians have attributed to the business’s loyal and consistently growing customer base. The business experiences a steady 10 to 15 per cent growth every year, according to Stephanie.

She revealed that the business may only focus on one brand in the future, to keep up with the fast-changing car industry and continue to grow an expertise in one area.
