New Mexico City air link a local job boost

A new, daily service between YVR and Mexico City took off Thursday (Dec. 9), creating an estimated 160 jobs across the province, according to airport officials.

A new, daily service between YVR and Mexico City took off Thursday (Dec. 9), creating an estimated 160 jobs across the province, according to airport officials. Announced in May, the non-stop flights is expected to strengthen not only holiday passenger traffic between the two countries, but enhance business links, said YVR president and CEO Crag Richmond. YVR pegged the dollars and cents impact to B.C. as $9.9 million in gross domestic product, $3.4 million in taxes and $2.9 million in wages. Aeromexico will operate a Boeing 737-700 aircraft with seat capacity for 124 passengers including 12 in business call. Aeromexico offers connectivity to 45 destinations within Mexico and 16 destinations in Latin America.
