Cowell Auto Group (CAG), the oldest continuously owned retail automobile dealership in Richmond, will celebrate its 50th birthday next week.

For decades, the Cowell family has been showing they care for the people around them by creating a happy working environment with a common purpose: to deliver exceptional customer experiences.

“50 years ago, there were only 10 people and 10 (business) relationships in the first month,” recalled Gary Cowell, Cowell Auto Group chairman.

To ensure Cowell Auto Group always delivers a good experience to its customers, each of the 300 employees carries a wallet-sized “Brand Platform” card, which explains the company’s Brand Platform, as well as Cowell Auto Group’s WOW Promise and WOW Pillars (ways in which CAG commits to WOWing  customers).

In addition to the card, all employees set away 5 to10 minutes a day to take part in a “Daily Huddle.”

The huddle focuses everyone on the bigger picture priority of delivering the services that day.

Meanwhile, Cowell actively works within the Richmond community, and their home, to support community organizations and provide employment opportunities for people.

“Giving back to the community is not only money, also time. Our employees have contributed more than 200 hours to volunteering this year,” said Cowell.

In 2017, Cowell has welcomed Infiniti of Richmond into its family and expanded with two locations for Audi of Richmond and Jaguar Land Rover of Richmond.
