Three new construction projects at YVR have won a Silver Excellence Award each, in the Vancouver Regional Construction Association Awards of Excellence. The YVR Expedited Transfer Facility, McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Vancouver Airport, and the A-B Connector received the recognition. The  Expedited Transfer Facility 2 (ETF2) is a 183-meter-long structural steel transfer corridor at YVR international airport that required the construction, with minimal disruptions, of a bridge over a major junction with security constraints, staffed information counters, and five-way passenger movement areas that stays open to the public. The outlet mall caught the attention of judges for its unique Waterplay Luminary fountain system featuring 40 individual nozzles that provide a re-circulating flow of roughly 60 gallons per minute on average when all the features are on. And the A-B Connector, which included relocating and upgrading four passenger gates and an expanded concourse and a new bag hall area, was lauded for recycling about 97 per cent of its construction waste and demolition materials.
