The City of Richmond has revealed the new street banner designs that will be displayed around the city this year.
This year, over 550 designs were submitted for the annual Richmond Street Banner Contest and community judges shortlisted the submissions to 20 designs.
Richmond saw a record of 6,000 votes being casted by the public in just two weeks to choose the winners.
Ten local individuals have been chosen to have their banner designs displayed along major streets and throughout Richmond now through early 2023.
The designs were unveiled in a virtual ceremony at the Monday, Mar. 14 council meeting.
This year’s winners are:

- Community: Jody McDonald
- Wildlife: Paul Leung
- Active Living: Meghan Smith
- Connection: David England
- Urban Landscape: Nicole Chan
- Island City: David England
- Innovation: Felix Fruhling
- Sustainability: David Huang
- The Arts: Grant McMillan
Richmond’s annual street banner contest is an initiative of Partners for Beautification, a community engagement program that encourages Richmond residents to be involved in creating a “vibrant and beautiful community.”
