YVR announces winners of puppy naming contest

The puppies at YVR Airport now have names. They are: Amelia Wilbur and Orville in reference to famous historical figures that were pioneers of aviation. We’d like to introduce to the world for the first time - Amelia, Wilbur and Orville.

The puppies at YVR Airport now have names. They are: Amelia Wilbur and Orville in reference to famous historical figures that were pioneers of aviation.

 

 

Last week, the airport asked the public to suggest names for the litter of puppies from the Pacific Assistance Dog Society (PADS) service dog program.

Tara Doherty, communications manager for PADS said the airport sponsored a litter of puppies and one of YVR’s employees will be raising one of the dogs for the first year and a half of life before it returns to PADS for specialized training.

Doherty said the dogs are placed with their clients when they are about two and a half years old. PADS service dogs assist people with disabilities, those suffering from PTSD, or the dogs are placed with community care professionals and help crime victims.

The airport said winners will receive a snuggle session with the adorable trio.
