Doing a little bird photography could lead to a family pass to the George C. Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary thanks to a City of Delta photo contest.

Take a photo of a bird in Delta and post it on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram using the hashtag #BirdsofDelta to take part in the contest, which closes Sunday, Aug. 12 at 11:59 p.m. Those who take part will be entered into a draw for a chance to win one of five annual family passes to the local bird sanctuary.

The 340-hectare (850-acre) sanctuary is considered one of the top birdwatching sites in Canada and welcomes thousands of visitors each year.

Delta is promoting itself as a birding hotspot leading up to the International Ornithological Congress, which will be held in Vancouver from Aug. 19 to 27.
