Wooden Boat Rendevous

Aug. 4 & 5: 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Britannia Shipyards National Historic Site is hosting the Ex – Forest Service Vessel Squadron Rendezvous on August 4th and 5th (Saturday and Sunday) from 12:00- 4:00pm. Visitors can walk Britannia’s docks and learn about the historic vessels' contributions to B.C.’s coastal communities and the environment. 

Steveston Farmers and Artisan Market

Aug. 5: 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Shop for local produce, organic meats, artisan breads and art pieces at the Steveston community centre. Live entertainment will also be present at this outdoor market supported by Richmond Agricultural and Industrial Society (RAIS). All proceeds will go towards supporting activities and projects of the community centre.

Live Painting Competition

Aug. 5: 2 to 6 p.m.

The 6th Youth World Cup is coming back to the Richmond Olympic Oval. Hosted by the Canada Youth Arts Development Foundation, this is a global painting competition for artists from ages four to 25. This year’s theme: love, dream and environment protection.

Richmond Night Market

Aug. 4 & 5 7 p.m. to 12 a.m.; Aug. 6 7 to 11p.m.

Check out food stalls, vendors, inflatable games, paddle boats and an inflatable obstacle course. This year’s Hawaiian theme will include a new summer seafood festival with at least three types of crab, lobster and more. Also this year, visitors have the chance to win a seven-night trip for two to Hawaii including the flight and accommodation. Tickets are $4.25 per person, or $25 for six with a line-up bypass. Come to the market on your birthday for free admission when you show your ID.

Honda Celebration of Light

Aug. 4: 2 to 10 p.m.

The best vantage points to enjoy the last night of this annual fireworks festivital are Second Beach, English Bay and Kitsilano/Vanier parks. You’ll want to leave the car at home and get there early to score the perfect spot. This year’s theme is “love” and the team from South Korea will be doing its best to express that by lighting up the sky, starting at about 10 p.m. Festivities actually get going at about 2 p.m. at the Park Stage at Second Beach and at English Bay with music, food trucks and the Redbull Airshow.

Vancouver Pride Parade

Aug. 5: 12 to 3 p.m.

Grab your Toonies and head down to the West End for one of the largest events to hit the city annually. The parade starts on Robson Street at Burrard and turns down Denman to Beach Avenue where it continues on to Pacific.
