The flowers are starting to bloom, the birds are chirping, and the sun is shining.
Spring is finally in the air and it's a great time to consider ways to freshen up your home and garden.
The News spoke to a number of Steveston merchants in order to provide some inspirational tips to effortlessly transition your home for the season.
Many told the News you can often make a dramatic change with little money - it just takes a dose of imagination and a splash of colour to bring the sunshine into your home.
This season's home décor gets its inspiration from nature, according to interior decorator Huong Nguyen.
"We are so blessed to be living in such a lush and stunning environment, so being inspired by the mountains, sea and the forest is a natural thing for us," said Nguyen, who owns Steveston's The Spotted Frog Furniture Company.
"My personal favourite way of making a designer impact is strategically accessorizing or furnishing with organic forms of wood left in its natural state."
Nguyen added the spring and summer season is all about embracing vivid colours inspired by the garden.
"If you don't have a green thumb, invest in high quality silk plants and go big with it."
