Some people let Valentine's Day pass just like any other day, while others scramble around under the pressure to impress that special someone. So what exactly is a person supposed to do to show their affection?

Many scratch their heads pondering the answer to this question. Men more so than women feel obligated to do something over the top.

Feeling that this holiday is overrated, many men begin to hate this day and the buzz around it. Some place it in the same camp as other materialistic holidays aimed at the wallet.

Yet, there is no escaping the fact Feb. 14 will be here shortly, and people have their silent expectations. The solution as to how to make Valentine's Day special is simple.

Although many would argue flowers and chocolate are cliché, they do fill the purpose of lighting up someone's day. Valentine's Day doesn't have to be anything extravagant.

In fact, it's the simple things that make a person feel thought about and loved. For example most local donut and coffee shops have donuts in the shape of a heart that look so adorable when topped off with sprinkles. Waking up to a coffee and a Valentine's donut is sure to put a smile on the face of your loved one.

Many critics might say that doing something for Valentine's Day is just like doing something for someone any other day. Although this may be true, it wouldn't hurt to make sure to display your feelings on Valentine's.

For those who are going to be single on Valentine's Day, go out and treat yourself... I'm sure you deserve it. No matter what you end up doing have a Happy Valentine's Day.
