Which teams will be brightening up the sky this summer for the 2018 Honda Celebration of Light? For the popular fireworks event’s 28th year, it’s going to be teams from South Africa, Sweden, and South Korea.
This year, for the first time ever, the Honda Celebration of Light will have a mandatory theme for all three competing teams. The theme, as chosen via a public vote, is “love.”
“The Honda Celebration of Light truly lights up Vancouver by bringing people together with those they love to enjoy a festival of music, food and culture throughout the day leading up to the breathtaking fireworks each night. The energy is electric throughout the three days,” said Paul Tilbury and Heather Owen, joint co-chairs of the Vancouver Fireworks Festival Society.
The Honda Celebration of Light takes place in July and August; the schedule, which was revealed a week prior, is as follows:
July 28: Fireworks for Africa, representing South Africa
August 1: Unique Pyrotechnic, representing Sweden
August 4: Daehan Fireworks Co., representing South Korea
All shows begin at 10 pm. There are multiple ways to see the fireworks, including grabbing a shore-side seat to booking tickets to any of the several viewing lounges and gatherings. All tickets go on sale to the public on Friday, April 13.
