At least one person skied through Richmond’s streets Sunday

It’s a common sight after a dump of snow near university campuses across the country, but a relatively rare one here in Richmond: people hanging on to cars and skiing in the streets.

It’s a common sight after a dump of snow near university campuses across the country, but a relatively rare one here in Richmond: people hanging on to cars and skiing in the streets.

Instagram user @yvr_cw posted video that shows a skier clad in turquoise snowpants and a black jacket clutching some sort of shovel or broom tied to a rope that’s attached to a car with its hatchback rear door open.

She was driving, and her friend filmed it. They followed the skier through a left turn at the Gilbert Road and Granville Avenue intersection around 9:45 p.m.

She captioned it simply, “hey buddy, this is super dangerous … #onlyinrichmond.”
