Richmond RCMP encourages the community to cheer on Special Olympics athletes and detachment personnel in this year's Law Enforcement Torch Run on June 8.
Thirty runners will depart from the Cornerstone Baptist Church parking lot at noon to Richmond's RCMP detachment, 11411 No. 5 Rd. Five of the 30 participants are Special Olympic athletes.
The three-kilometre run concludes with lunch and presentations. The athletes then head to Ladner for another leg of the run.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run has, since 1990, raised awareness and funds in support of the Special Olympics.
Beginning in B.C., it has now become an international event with more than 25 countries participating worldwide. For more information, visit www.specialolympics.bc.ca.
