Photos: February flurries cover Richmond in thin blanket of snow

A snowfall warning is currently in place.

Snow has returned to Richmond after a brief warm period as Environment Canada forecasts around five centimetres of local snowfall accumulation.

Community members, two and four-legged, were seen braving the wet flurries with rain coats and umbrellas on Tuesday afternoon.

Environment Canada issued a snowfall warning for Metro Canada on Tuesday morning, which is expected to last from late afternoon to just before midnight, when snow will change to rain.

The snow may impact the evening commute and drivers are advised to adjust to changing road conditions.

Forecasts also call for moderate to heavy rain to persist through Wednesday with a total rainfall of 20 to 40 millimetres.

In a post on social media platform X, Vancouver International Airport (YVR) confirmed crews prepared the airfield for possible snowfall and asked passengers to check the status of their flights before heading to the airport and allot "plenty of time" to arrive safely.
