The Richmond Food Bank received a donation of $1,286 from the annual Steveston Santa Claus Parade this year.

The parade, organized by Steveston Sound and Stage and the Richmond Fire Fighters Charitable Society, saw many "eager boys and girls" along the parade route on Dec. 24. after a four-year hiatus from the pandemic.

In addition to the cash donation was 308kg of non-perishable food.

"We encouraged the public to donate non-perishable food items and cash for the Richmond Food Bank and were amazed in the generosity of the community," said Alex Sagert of Steveston Sound and Stage.

Sagert was among those in the parade of cars with Santa decorations on a rented trailer.

This year, the City of Richmond also provided a hay wagon.
