The Richmond Kajaks club is desperate for funding after losing two of its major events again due to the pandemic

The Richmond Kajaks Track and Field Club is calling on the community to support its shredding fundraiser next week.

For the second year in a row, the pandemic has forced the cancellation of the club’s two major fundraisers, the Kajaks Concession at the Richmond Elementary School Zone Meets and the BC Elementary School Track & Field Championship Meet.

In that respect, the non-profit club said the knock-on effects of the cancellations “has been significant” and it’s operating on a “very tight budget.”

It is hoping the community will come out in force to support its secure, on-site shredding event, courtesy of Shredwise, on Saturday, May 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at McMath secondary.

There is a minimum donation of $20.
