It’s that time of the year as everyone prepares to file their taxes and the Richmond Public Library is offering free tax clinics to those who need assistance.

The library is partnering with the Lord’s Harvest Fellowship to once again have trained volunteers help low-income community members file their income tax returns from March 6 to April 24.

“We are grateful and blessed that for the past 10 years, our income tax clinic has been helpful in extending hands in preparing and filing income taxes for students, seniors, new immigrants and people with modest income in our community,” says Pastor Abe Lagayan, representative of the Lord’s Harvest Fellowship in a press release.

Free clinics are only being offered to individuals with a maximum income of $35,000, and couples with a maximum income of $45,000 plus $2,500 per child.

Due to the pandemic, this year’s clinics at the Brighouse branch will follow a drop-off and pick-up format.

Participants will need to register for a session. After registering, participants need to pick up their registrations forms from the library and fill them out before their appointment.

A government issued ID and relevant tax slips such as T4, T5 and Canada Child Benefit slips must be brought to the appointment for drop-off. Documents will be returned during the pick-up time.

Clinics run from March 6 to April 24 , no sessions on April 3, with drop-off appointments between 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Drop off appointments on March 6 will be between 12:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Registration can be done by calling 604-231-6413 or by visiting the Ask Me desk on the second floor of the Brighouse Branch (7700 Minoru Gate).
