If you're someone who wants to make a difference by serving your community, then you might consider becoming an auxiliary constable with the Richmond RCMP.

The Richmond detachment is currently recruiting 25 auxiliary constables to assist in supporting community police activities relating to public safety and crime prevention within the city.

Auxiliaries are uniformed volunteers who have peace officer status when on duty and are authorized to operate police vehicles in non-operational roles. They don't, however, carry firearms, instead assisting regular members on patrol while performing various police functions, such as traffic and crowd control when required.

Auxiliaries must complete a basic training program delivered over a sixmonth period. Information sessions are being held at the Richmond City Hall Council Chambers at 6911 No. 3 Rd. on Aug. 23 and 29 at 7 p.m. You must pre-register by emailing [email protected].
