Cherry blossom season is around the corner with the first day of Spring just four days away.
Every year, the City of Richmond hosts a Cherry Blossom Festival to celebrate the arrival of spring and the blooming flowers at Garry Point Park where 255 Akebono cherry blossom trees are planted.
However, due to COVID-19 the festival was cancelled in 2020, but that didn’t stop Richmondites exploring and taking photos of the beautiful flower.
This year's festival will be taking place virtually, according to Tourism Richmond.
Cherry blossom trees have yet to bloom, but here is a list of the best places to take photos of the flowers in Richmond:
- Garry Point Park
- Grant McConachie Way
- Larry Berg Flight Path Park
- Minoru Park
- Middle Arm Dyke Trail on No. 1 Road, between River Road and Westminster Highway
- Riverport Sports and Entertainment Complex
