Best of Richmond 2016: A moment with...Henry Beh

Richmond’s wide open spaces with ample farmland and plenty of room for homes is what drew Henry Beh, executive director of Richmond Chinese Community Society (RCCS), to put down roots here after leaving Malaysia back in 1974.

Richmond’s wide open spaces with ample farmland and plenty of room for homes is what drew Henry Beh, executive director of Richmond Chinese Community Society (RCCS), to put down roots here after leaving Malaysia back in 1974. While things may be a lot different today in terms of population density, Beh said he still loves the city he has dedicated himself to after leaving a large accounting firm in downtown Vancouver to take on his present role at RCCS. Under his leadership, the society received the 2005 Community Spirit Award from the City of Richmond. For Beh, inclusion and diversity are at the heart of his understanding of Canada and his organization’s mandate. RCCS hosts numerous events to not only support the Chinese community but also build bridges between various cultural groups.
